Spring 2025 Events
Anchor University is delighted to coordinate events and workshops designed to showcase key elements of the University's anchor mission. These events aim to foster interaction among students, staff, faculty, administration, and community partners, all working towards enhancing our campus and regional community.
Lunch and Learn Professional Development Series
A Lunch & Learn program is where an organization encourages participants to eat lunch in a group setting while simultaneously utilizing that time to complete trainings, seminars, and other educations. They provide an organization with an excellent opportunity to educate or train participants. Lunch will be provided.
Lunch and Learn – Civic and Community Engagment Grant

Event Time: 12:00-1:30 p.m.
- Description: Join us for a Lunch and Learn panel discussion on applying for the Robert S. Nelsen (RSN) Civic and Community Engagement grants. The facilitator will share approaches and strategies for grant proposal design and partnership development. This discussion will offer insights into the definition of community engagement, highlighting the importance of collaboration and active participation in fostering meaningful connections and positive change within communities.
- Moderator: Dr. Samantha Blackburn, Director of the Community Engagement Center and Elisa Trimboli, M.Ed., Anchor University Partnership Manager
- Lunch Menu: The lunch is a set menu with three sandwich options, one is vegetarian, along with one vegan side salad option.
- Accommodations: Sacramento State seeks to ensure that our events are inclusive and that all attendees are able to fully participate.
- The event will have wheelchair accessible seating.
- Please request an ASL interpreter or a live captioning as soon as possible, but no later than five (5) business days before the event, by sending an email to asl@ashtech-oem.com with your request and providing the name, date, time, and location of this event.
- For all other requests, please email anchor@ashtech-oem.com no later than five (5) business days prior to the event.
- Note: Registration is required and will close when it reaches its maximum capacity at 25 seats.
Anchor University Recognition Reception
The Anchor Recognition Reception is dedicated to acknowledging and honoring the outstanding projects and programs that have been awarded Anchor University Grants (2024-25), achieved through the collaborative efforts of Sac State and our esteemed community partners. These joint endeavors are instrumental in driving the ongoing success of the Anchor University Initiative.
As a token of appreciation for the remarkable accomplishments of these projects, recipients will be presented with a certificate of recognition and a commemorative plaque. This event serves as a celebration and heartfelt acknowledgment of the invaluable contributions made by our campus and community partners. We extend our sincere gratitude for their dedication, energy, and innovative spirit.
